Reading the New Testament alongside the Qur’an raises and clarifies several types of questions for both Christians and Muslims. Intertextuality: How do their respective approaches to earlier Scriptures compare? Nature of divine revelation: Issues such as progressive revelation, continuity and discontinuity, genre of scripture, divine and human authorship will arise. Finality. New Testament and Qur’anic claims of finality and universality call for comparison of their openness to claims to further divine revelation. The book of Hebrews will provide a test case for a juxtaposed reading of these primary texts.
